Book a free in water assessment!

Free In Water Assessment:

Before we can place you in a class, we will conduct a free consultation call and an in water assessment, which will take about 15 minutes. Come prepared with a towel, swim suit, and goggles (preferably not a snorkel mask). A few things to keep in mind for your assessment depending on the age of the student:

  • If the swimmer wears diapers, they must be double diapered per pool rules

  • If the swimmer is under age 3, parents/guardians must be in the water for the assessment and the lessons

  • A parent or guardian must remain on deck if the student is a minor

  • Adults (16+) just starting out or focusing on technique, please be prepared to talk about your goals and what lead you to swimming

  • Triathletes may bring information regarding your current swim times, struggles, successes, and any questions you may have about swimming distance events

Most lessons and in water assessments will take place at Draper Recreation Center. I am an independent business, so please contact me directly if you have any questions!

If ou will need to pay the Rec Center entry fee for your in water assessment, but the entry will be included in the cost of your class once you begin lessons.

Once you have booked and completed a free assessment, you will receive access to my booking calendar.

If you have a home pool, we can also conduct lessons there. There is a travel fee of $1 per mile assessed based on your distance from my office in Sugarhouse.

Baby and Me (6 months-3 years)

We will primarily focus on safety and self rescue skills, as well as reflexes associated with an aquatic environment. Parents will learn about water safety for young children, and children will learn how to roll on their backs and float, and some forward movement.

Tiny Tots (1.5-3 years)

We will primarily focus on safety and self rescue skills, as well as learning to move forward independently in the water. Swimmer will learn how to return to the wall or boat should they fall into a body of water. Parents will learn water safety for young children.

Beginner (3-15 years)

The beginner class is for children who can not yet swim. We focus on safety and self rescue and then learn the basics of freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers will also learn elementary backstroke, and begin basic dives (location allowing).

Intermediate (5-15 years)

We focus on developing endurance in freestyle and backstroke, and begin flip turns. Additionally, swimmers will learn dolphin kick and breaststroke. This level also utilizes drills in order to improve technique and increase endurance. We will continue to hone water safety skills. Swimmers will begin learning more advanced diving techniques (location allowing).

Advanced (5-15 years)

We begin to develop breaststroke, butterfly, and open turns. We will also build continued endurance and technique for each stroke. Emphasis on water safety will continue. Swimmers will learn race starts at this level. Swimmers will also learn side stroke, and can learn basic rescue skills upon request. This is not a lifeguard certification class.

Adult 2 (16+)

The Adult 2 class is for students who have either passed Adult 1, or who already have some swimming skills and are working on lap swimming or open water swimming. We will discuss your goals and create a coaching plan based on your needs. This level includes workouts.

Stroke and Turn Clinic (5-15 years)

We use individualized drills to increase performance, build endurance, shorten time on turns and dives, and build confidence. Swimmers who would like to join a swim team, or who are on a swim team and need some personalized coaching, will see great improvement with great effort.

Triathlete Training

This level is for triathletes who would like additional coaching for the swimming leg of their race. We will focus on improving technique, endurance, and efficiency of your preferred stroke, but will focus mainly on freestyle (front crawl). This level includes workout.

Adult 1 (16+)

The Adult 1 class is for students of any age over 16 who do not yet know how to swim. We can also work with students who can swim but would like to learn strokes, water safety skills, basics of lap swimming, etc. We have a lot of experience working with water anxiety and trauma.
